Character’s Background:
Born from a japanese mother and an english father, Delaine lived in England until the age of 7, when he moved to Iwatodai (Japan). Not long after that, his father chose to disappear, leaving his family (Delaine, his mother, and his bigger sister) behind.
Because he respected his father deeply and because he was so young, the sudden disappearance hurt Delaine more than he'll ever admit. He couldn't trust adults (especially men) anymore, and he became the odd kid (see PersonalitY) he is now.

Delaine assumed an overly logical approach to life, especially for a Kid, believing there is always a plausible, scientific explanation for everything. Obviously enough, he never believed in fairytales and things like that, and he often ruined the magic for other kids as well, pointing out how stupid it was to believe in such childish stories.
Needless to say, He didn't make any friends, and he preferred to spend his times on book instead of playing. He couldn't form any bonds with adults as well, especially because he couldn't stand being treated like the others, stupid, kids.

Even though he didn't have exactly an happy life (though he never really complained about it, the only thing he ever complained about was other people's stupidity), things worsened on June, when his mother died in mysterious circumstances, and his sister got the Apathy Syndrome. Of course, that was Shadows' doing (obviously, after this event he moved to an institute, he certainly could not live by himself).

Delaine would never admit it, but as soon as he became conscious of the Dark Hour, he was terrified. Even though this, his rational mind couldn't believe in what he was experiencing, and after sometime, he finally decided to make some researches by himself. Obviously enough, the fact he was just a child, together with the fact it was kind of impossible to get to know something about that strange event, he couldn't find any useful info.

Things finally took a different turn when he chose to roam around the city durning the Dark Hour, just to collect infos. He happened to go at Port Island, where he witnessed a group of people fighting those strange creatures that seemed to appear durning that frightening time. Though he was hiding (he was successful in this until after the dark hour had passed), he was near enough to reconize the armband those people were wearing, and the writing on it: S.E.E.S.
The very next day, he collected the necessary infos about that peculiar group, and sure it wasn't just an ordinary extrascholastic one, he sent a letter to the chairmain, asking to join. He made sure to mention the green glowing moon, and the coffins around the city.

Delaine's Sister, Giselle, recovered from the Apathy Syndrome on December.

Character’s Personality:
Before anything else, there's one thing to say about Delaine: he's probably the most unpleasant kid you'll ever bump into. He's full of himself, and believe he's a genius amongst the other things (not like he's very far from that, he's way smarter than most kids his age, and he has a good deal of knowledge). Of course, he thinks of himself as smarter (and generally better) than most adults too, and doesn't pay much respect to his elders. He's overly sarcastic, and one of the things he loves the most is making fun of other people's mistake (on the other hand, if he happens to do something wrong and people make fun of him, he obviously hates it), trying to prove himself superior whenever there's a chance.
Delaine thinks of himself as very mature for his age, and does not like to be treated like a kid... unless that's convenient for him. If he has something to gain, he can become the most cute and adorable little kid you'll ever see. Of course, when he gets what he wants, he return back to his usual self.
He does not like to do childish things (save for just one thing: He's a big Power Ranger fan, but he doesn't admit it easily), and thinks of playing as a total waste of time. He prefers to study instead, and that's what he does most of the time, actually.
Delaine's greatest dream is actually to become a famous scientist, and he's very dedicated to his studies because of this, too.

He believes there's a logical and scientific explanation for everything, and he joined SEES to find an answer to his questions about the Dark Hour.

Even though he wouldn't ever admit it, Delaine's suffering for his current family situation, and feels kind of alone. Too bad it's his fault.
